Arming the Rebels
Why did the CIA fail miserably to arm the Syrian rebels in 2013? A recent piece from The Wall Street Journal highlights how the CIA attempted to distribute weapons on a small budget which mean bullet rationing. Today, the fighters who were trained by the CIA have either joined the Islamic groups or have gone missing. Could we have avoided the rise of ISIS if we hadn’t failed to properly arm the rebels? Hard to say, but a half effort undoubtedly hurt us.
